This report, produced by the Asian Institute of Management's Center for Sustainable Finance, was supported and funded by Earth Security as part of its capacity building project in the Philippines to mobilise private sector finance for Ecosystem-based Adaptation (EbA). Earth Security's country programme in the Philippines mobilises the finance sector and is piloting new financial mechanisms to build the local capacities to invest in nature as an asset class.

The report introduces the concept of EbA for banks in the Philippines, and has been used to mobilise over 100 private and public banks and financial institutions to consider the business case for investing in nature's capital as a cost-effective way to increase climate adaptation. The Earth Security project is funded by the International Climate Initiative of the German Federal Ministry of the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMUB).

It concludes with a practical step-by-step guide for bankers to help them operationalise the financing of EbA projects within their portfolios and build resilience to the impacts of climate change for businesses, communities and the environment.
