Juliana Castro
Programme Associate

Juliana is our Programme Associate for the Cloud Forest Bond. Her work focuses on strategic research and stakeholder engagement to design an impact bond catalyzing the value of cloud forests while creating sustainable value for local stakeholders and partners.
Prior to Earth Security, Juliana spent five years working with multiple organizations on sustainable development projects in Colombia. She managed research and participatory strategies with rural and indigenous communities, and coordinated the implementation of several projects focused on nature-based solutions as cost-effective pathways for emission reductions generating significant livelihood transformations.
Her work included advising on the implementation of REDD+ projects in indigenous territories in the Colombian Amazon Rainforest with The Amazon Conservation Team, advising the Colombian Government and international donors about the implementation of sustainable tourism value chains in regions formerly affected by the Colombian armed conflict, and working with the Grantham Institute for Climate Change and the Environment researching nature-based carbon offsets within current carbon markets.
Juliana holds an MSc in Environment and Development from The London School of Economics and Political Science and a BA in Political Science from Universidad de Los Andes.
