About the role
Associates are instrumental in the development and execution of Earth Security’s engagements. They drive and contribute to research, strategic analysis, stakeholder engagement and project delivery, and are therefore envisioned to develop, over time, into strategic positions within the organisation.

You will be part of an agile and pioneering team working at high-level with leading banks, insurance companies, corporations and multilateral climate funds, driving strategic thinking and supporting leadership on sustainable investment. The Associate will work collaboratively on a small and dynamic team, taking on strategic issues and directly advising Earth Security’s CEO and leadership.

While Associates can be deployed across the full portfolio of Earth Security’s projects, the initial focus of this position is to be part of the M40 programme, a multi-year partnership with UBS to develop a blue
resilience fund that contributes to drive impact finance across 40 locations containing the majority of the world’s mangroves. Read more about the M40 Initiative here.

As part of the M40 team, the Associate(s) will contribute to the design, development, and launch of a blue impact fund, which matches investments from global companies, investors and multilateral banks
with a pipeline of mangrove projects that build coastal resilience across 40 key mangrove areas. The Associate(s) will contribute to projects including: building an investment pipeline, developing a novel impact investment framework, and creating an innovative blue resilience impact finance strategy through direct engagements and in collaboration with corporates and investors.

Responsibilities

• Participate in a design process to create a blue finance mechanism, working collaboratively with the team and external partners and generating data-driven insights to inform strategic decisions.
• Contribute to the fund development process: including impact finance strategy, impact measurement framework, development of a pipeline of projects, and investor engagement.
• Identify, develop and assess a pipeline of investable projects to define investment needs, helping to shape the fund’s impact thesis and strategy.
• Map and engage with companies, investors and funds to assess the investment opportunities linked to the pipeline generating insights that feed into the design of a fund.
• Represent Earth Security with key stakeholders to gather strategic insights and build long term partnerships instrumental to the implementation of an impact fund.
• Draft reports, presentations, proposals etc. for internal and external audiences for the purpose of driving engagement, building partnerships and influencing decision-makers.
• Independently own, plan and deliver assignments with flexibility and to deadline, contributing to a dynamic and entrepreneurial team effort.
• Support additional M40 workstreams and other Earth Security programmes (as needed).

Location: We have a strong preference for candidates based in London where the programme team is based, but will consider exceptional candidates based in Europe, within short distance travel to London.
